Kommunal tjenestepensjon er en ytelsesbasert pensjonsordning, som omfatter alderspensjon, uførepensjon, barnepensjon og etterlattepensjon.
Tjenestepensjonsordningen er tilpasset ny folketrygd med levealdersjustering og med samme regulering av løpende pensjoner som i folketrygden (lønnsutvikling fratrukket 0,75 prosent).
De kommunale pensjonsordningene er omfattet av Overføringsavtalen med Statens pensjonskasse. Avtalen sikrer at pensjonsrettighetene videreføres i ny pensjonsordning, når ansatte skifter jobb innen offentlig sektor.
